Privacy Policy
Your words are yours. So is your data.
Last updated: July 3, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Inkwright, Inc. collects when you use inkwright.inc and our writing tools, how we use it, and the things we will never do with it. We've tried to write it the way we write everything else: plainly.
What we collect
We collect only the information you give us directly. Depending on how you use the site, that can include:
- Your name and email address when you create an account, contact us, or are invited to use beta applications.
- Information you enter so a feature can work. For example, the author name on a novel title page, project details in a planning tool, or a shipping address for a physical order.
- The content you create with our web tools, such as manuscripts, boards, and worksheets. That content belongs to you; we store it only to show it back to you.
- Purchase records if you buy something. Payments are processed by Stripe, so your card number is never sent to or stored on our servers.
- Messages you send us through the contact form or the in-app feedback tool.
We don't buy data about you from anyone.
How we use it
- To run the services you use: signing you in, saving your work, generating things like novel title pages, fulfilling orders, and managing subscriptions.
- To send emails that the service needs to function: login links, order confirmations, subscription notices, and reminders you've requested.
- To occasionally tell you about new apps and website features we think may interest you. In practice this means a few emails a year, not a newsletter avalanche. If you'd rather not receive these, reply to any of them or contact us and we'll stop.
- To answer you when you write to us.
What we don't do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your information is shared only with the service providers listed below, and only to enable the site to function.
Service providers
A few trusted companies process data on our behalf, each for one job: Stripe processes payments and subscriptions; Postmark delivers our email; Hetzner provides the servers the site runs on. Each receives only what it needs to do that job, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes.
We want to process as little personal information as possible when you use our website. That's why we've chosen Fathom Analytics for our website analytics, which doesn't use cookies and complies with the GDPR, ePrivacy (including PECR), COPPA and CCPA. Using this privacy-friendly website analytics software, your IP address is only briefly processed, and we have no way of identifying you. As per the CCPA, your personal information is de-identified. You can read more about this on Fathom Analytics' website.
The purpose of using this software is to understand our website traffic in the most privacy-friendly way possible, so we can continually improve our website and business. The lawful basis as per the GDPR is "Article 6(1)(f); where our legitimate interests are to improve our website and business continually." As explained, no personal data is stored over time.
Cookies
We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in. There are no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party cookies.
Keeping your data safe, and for how long
Your connection to the site is encrypted, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and access to production data is limited to the people who run the service. We keep your information for as long as you have an account, plus whatever purchase records the tax authorities require us to retain.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, export the content you've created, or delete your account and its data. Email us or use the contact form and we'll take care of it. Depending on where you live, these rights may also be guaranteed by law (such as the GDPR or CCPA). We honor these privacy laws regardless of your location.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us, and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects how we handle your personal information, we'll email you about it first.
App privacy policies
Our apps have their own privacy policies, each as plainly written as this one:
